Circles are hard to get perfect with a jigsaw, so there's almost certainly going to be some clean up. If your shop includes a band saw, you may want to use that tool to cut your circle. There are a number of jigs (both shop-made and sold commercially) that are designed just for cutting circles on the band saw. They provide an even, perpendicular cut that requires very little clean up. But I didn't use a band saw, so there was some clean up to achieve a reasonably round, even top. Some more time with a rasp and some 80-grit sandpaper smoothed the edge and made the top ready for the next step.

A good sanding over the entire piece with my random orbit sander and then a final swipe on all the edges with some 120-grit sandpaper and I was ready to apply a finish. 9 A split corner that I should have avoided by drilling a pilot hole for the screw. 10 With a pilot holed drilled on the other side, no splitting problems. 11 Another screw up from the bottom and the side is held tightly in place. 12 I used my trim router and a rabbeting bit to cut the rabbet for the mirror. The corners needed to be squared-off with a little hand chisel work.
